Looks to be Arlington Ord. Your location description puts it in the right place also. Arlington stamps were very indistinct on a lot of their guns. Most of these carbines had well worn metal finish and wood, brought back from South Korea.
Saw M1 carbines carried every day by ROK soldiers and the national police, while there in the early 70s.

In general they imported a better grade of carbine from South Korea in the mid to late 80's. Most of their import marks look like a scratch on the bottom of the barrel.
