'44 Bavarian

I bought this '44 CMP Rockola Bavarian Rural Police without knowing too much about them. I just new I wanted one and this has the Mark scratch up thinking it was done from someone trying to remove it until Jim Mock wrote to me some nice article about it when he wanted to see some pictures. Hope you like it.

I thought maybe I messed up not knowing to much about them but when James (Jim) Mock wanted some more pictures I sent him the link and got some great news. I think I will hang on to it. At first I thought someone wanted to remove the BAVARIAN by grinding it off, but no they were told to, but had to stop cause it was taking too long to get them out, but being such a high S/N Rockola with the lots of Rockola parts from CMP putting it together he said if he would of known and seen it he would of outbid me when he saw the price. I just saw it one night with no picture just the words mixed in with just the parts and saw it I had to have it.

If my impressions are correct it is a Barvarian Police gun that was then sent to Austria. More information here. U.S. Carbines in Germany and Austria

Stock is a 'Trimble', for National Postal Meter (TN) and the stock also has the NPM cartouche. Damn nice carbine and it has the CMP certificate. Refinished by the B.R. Polizei but that means it hasn't been messed with since they overhauled it, and the numbered parts proves it. This time you got a good one. Way to hang in there!

I always wanted a Bavarian, but never really studied them a whole lot that's when when I bought my NPM and was finishing up my Inland. Then I got to reading everything I could about them. James Mock got a glance at it and we talked on the phone and sent me some other Websites to get more information so I been reading a lot about them and fixing to add more pics. The History about the Bavarian and Austrian Carbines and who they were assigned to is amazing. There mainly all Rockola Parts inside the the Trigger housing. I'm not doing nothing to it from what I read this Carbine were put together like this and they stayed that way. I just put a max bid which wasn't much for what it was then won it for just 25.00 more dollars he said it should of went for more. I was told by him awhile back to grab a Bavarian for my collection when I started and been looking for a long time. I'm glad I saw this with just 1 day left on the auction. I wanted to ask was this the Rear Sights Rockola used, if not i'm still leaving it on. I've seen it on just a couple of other Bavarian Rockolas and wanted to know if this was correct. Thanks

The stamped Hemphill was pretty much the standard replacement sight. I doubt if it came on the carbine. It was more likely put on it late in the war or shortly after.
