I picked this up at a French flea market, but it is not in my line of expertise, I think its a 1882 model infantry officers dress sword, St Etienne Armes et Cycles maker stamp, anyone know when it was made or any other interesting info about it.

What is that cap badge Roy? Duke of Wellingtons Regt?
Nearly, its the 7th Wellington (New Zealand) territorial regiment. The Wellington region had two regiments in 1914, the 5th which was from the city and the 7th which was from the West coast of the lower North Island. I think the lion cap badge is from the battalion from the Horowhenua region just north of Wellington city, The 7th included men from several districts who kept their individual battalion caps badges. The 7th suffered over 80% casualties on Chunuk Bair.
The Duke of Wellington was a patron of the New Zealand company who brought settlers to the Wellington region in the 1840's and founded the city, many heraldric devices related to the city of Wellington are taken from the Duke's coat of arms.
