Need Help - Unknown sling and odd trigger guard screw

I recently acquired a VZ.24 rifle. It, for the most part, is in the original Czech configuration, but has minor German modifications to it. The rifle came with an unmarked leather sling, but I cannot determine what model rifle the sling is originally for. The brass fitting has corrosion, indicating age, but I don't recognize it. Also, the rear trigger guard screw was replaced with a K98k style screw with three cuts for a locking screw instead of the original VZ.24 screw which has four cuts for a locking screw. What is odd it that the screw has a star stamped on it. The stock and handguard were duffle cut, which indicates to me as being a USGI pickup. Does anyone recognize this star on the screw? Is it a subcontractor mark? Also, can anyone identify the sling? Thanks, and info is appreciated.

Your sling appears identical to the one that was on my Swedish Ljungman AG-42B when I bought it, I think it is the correct one.

I agree. I am no expert on Ljugman rifles, but the sling in your pic does look like the sling I have.

I have seen a similar star to that on Carcanos and a M95 which went through a Italian Arsenal.

Can't say I've ever seen that. The only similar markings I could find were Russian, and post was French. I also read that the Chileans marked some small parts on their Mausers with a star.

Here is the star on what was a Italian Capture M95 carbine (this is a photo of the front barrel band/bayonet band). There is also one on my M91 Carcano Rifle on the receiver right by the sear, you can only see it from looking from the top down (I don't have a photo of it). Not saying that is what it is, just what I personally have seen that star used on (only found out what the star meant recently, thanks Aragorn243). Also if it was a vet capture it wouldn't be Russian or post war French (unless someone replaced parts).

Absolutely could be Italian. The marking is very similar.

Judging from the "reversed" buckle, I'd say Swedish. So, your sling mates your rifle.

I concur it is a Swedish sling but why are you saying it is correct for a VZ-24? Not saying it couldn't be but is it known these were used on VZ-24's? The star does look like the Italian rework star.

I think we have some confusion developing, partly on my part.

Here is my clarifying statement: I believe the sling is Swedish, and I believe it is correct for my Ljungmann, I do not believe it is correct for a VZ-24.

I am not 100% sure my sling is Swedish because it came as an extra with the rifle from some one that wasn't a military buff. I do note mine is missing the slider/keeper.
