Erma dsm 34

I was reading through some old posts on the DSM 34 and found a couple of threads that mentioned the known serial numbers for that manufacturer range from 36 to 12482. That got me curious because I have a high serial number ERMA in my possession. So I went and looked. Sure enough mine is 12964, a little past the stated numbers. I don't know how current this info is, or if it has been updated since those threads were posted. Just wanted to let the collectors out there know.

Unfortunately mine has been cut down and someone drilled it for a scope, but it still is interesting and shoots just fine. Also the bolt is mis-matched but is close at 12934.

Not bad for a rusty old barn find that I was able to clean up and make presentable.

Repro Stock or Not?

I'm considering spending the money to have a new reproduction stock put on this rifle. Cost is around $300. Is it worth it or should I just leave well enough alone?

I can tell you that his work is excellent. I had a new butt stock made for a French rifle and it came out perfect. Not cheap but the quality was great. As with me a new stock was the only way as there are no used ones around and I was not disappointed.

I have heard about his work and it looks very nice. Just trying to decide if the rifle is worth the investment.

Your call but with all that's been done with it, it has no collector value. Looks like it was polished and reblued. You'll have to find the metal parts, barrel bands, probably a new butt plate as that one is probably ground down to fit the sanded stock.

You have a good eye. It was a rusty barn find that I had cleaned up before I knew what I had. Still shoots like a dream. I'll probably leave it alone.
