I have a confession to make, I went over to the "dark side".
I almost swore that I wouldn't do this, but I did. I have decided to order a Ruger AR 5.56 carbine. Yep, this will be my first AR and it will be of the "impingement" type. (Shades of the Vietnam War).
I just pray that it is a good shooter, because I'm putting off my purchase of a JRA Rockola in .30 Carbine to buy this.
Does anyone have one of these that would care to comment on it?

Me too. I was young and visiting Jamaica for the first time.
But seriously, I have sold a lot of Ruger AR’s and never had a complaint. I think you will be happy with it.
From what I can see the Ruger AR 5.56 has a better "fit and finish" over some others.
The Ruger AR 5.56 seems to have a tighter "fit and finish" than either the S&W Sport or Sport II. IMHO, this means that as the gun "wears in" that there will be fewer places for dust and other debris to collect.
If it isn't too expensive, Ruger's trigger upgrade may be worth the investment. The whole idea is that I won't be buying more than one AR and I want it to shoot well until I stop breathing. After that, I won't care too much, will I? :yikes:
