Hornady ELD-X & ELD 6.5 x 284

I asked a while ago if anyone had used the 6.5mm 143gn ELD-X & 140gn ELD's.
I put together 6 lots of 4 rounds for each weight with 5, 10, 15 thou jumps keeping the powder the same weight for all loads, Lapua case Fed 210 Match T/L 2.161" RE-22 - **gns shot @100m R/S rest with rear bag. Savage 110 26" HART barrel 1/8 TR Vee block bedded in F class stock. (Original stocks are cr*p)
Same sighting targets used for all groups the center dot is 1/2" the 3 shot off target was without altering the sights.
My APRS are the 3 x 3 shot groups @100m were fired off a bi pod I am pretty happy with the results apart from me throwing a shot on the left target .

I am using the 208 grain ELD M in one 300 Win Mag with great results-Built 700 Remy. My only complaint is I weigh the bullets and sort by them by 1 grain difference in weight. Several boxes have ranged from 207 to 210 grains with most boxes of 100 being 207 to 209. The Ogive length has been spot on though. In this match chamber I jump them one thousands out of annealed Norma Brass with shoulder bumped two thousandths, Retumbo Powder and CCI mag primers. In another Remington Sendero that's still wearing the OEM barrel but bedded and braked I got pretty good results, but it shoots the Berger 210 VLD's a little better so I have stuck with those. The ELD M is a better bullet than the AMAX at ranges over 800 in my experience. The Sendero is close to being burnt up then it will get a Bartlein Barrel and the load development game will start all over.

Yep this HART is at 1743 round count and has been chopped from 30" to 27" and re'chambered so it is almost bin time I have another HART 30" ready to screw in and as you say the process begins again I shoot Berger VLD 140's as Sierras I tried to get going but gave up on them. I sometimes use A Max for the short ranges 3-500 so I really wanted to give these a go, the 140 ELD seem to be the better grouping. I have not tried a different powder weight just loaded them all the same now the jumps are done will do + - .2 increments with the powder to check the noding there. I am sure there are those out there that can appreciate how much time eff class shooters put into load development and when you have a barrel burner like a 6.5 x 284 or say a Shooting Times Westerner you have to get it close very quickly as barrels can be toasted at between 700-1200 rounds but that's the price for great accuracy that is comfortable to shoot all day long. :thup:
