One of my sons got into a tiff and owes me some hard labor. I was thinking of having him sort a little brass I have saved over the last two years (8-5 gallon buckets) Starting tomorrow he'll be sorting the re-loadable stuff from the military crimp. My buddy re-loads and I have a deal worked out with him that works well for both of us. I am wondering if the other stuff has any value, would it be worth scrapping out?-SDH:dunno:
IF the brass is of an odd ball calibre, such as 9.3 x 74 rimmed, 577/450 or 577 Snider, etc., it is worth mone. However, if just .303 or 30-06 and berdan..not worth much. Berdan brass can be reloaded, however the price of berdan primers has skyrocketed over the years since the Old Scrounger closed up shop. RCBS makes a handy little tool for removing berdan primers.
I turned in a scrap 55 gallon barrel of old military once fired berdan brass. 90% being 8mm Mauser that just isnt worth reloading due to the poor war time quality. The drum was full to the top. I got 430.00 bucks US for the scrap value. I bought more surplus 8mm with the money.
I recycle my brass too. Yugo 8mm is the best beacuse it seems to be heaviest. Recycling it gets the cost of shooting the 8mm down close to the cost of .22 ammo.
Sounds very good. The boy is doing very well in the sorting process, perhaps sometime next week I'll be heading to the scrap yard-SDH
