(The Carbine had the feeding ramp "throated" to ensure feeding). Jim attained a 100% "one-shot-stop" record on the "mean streets" of the "Big Apple". :yikes:

Yes, I read his book many years ago. Remember that he liked the M-1 carbine. Also carried one or more S&W model 10's with tape on the grips for a steady hold?
My uncle was a NYC detective from 1950-70 and knew him.
Well respected by his peers and an expert at his trade.
Lt. Col. John George authored a book "Shots Fired In Anger", in it he relates his preference for the M1 Carbine while fighting the Japanese during WWII in the Pacific. It is important to note that George was a NM shooter before the war and a excellent shooter who placed his shots quite deliberately.
My dad used an Inland M1 carbine on Iwo Jima, including the night of the big Banzai charge. He said it never let him down. Any more than that, he wouldn't say....
