Sarco No 1 barrel report
Sarco recently listed just found No 1 barrels for sale. 1 for 124.00 or 3 to 99 for 99.00 bucks a piece. No pics not much of a description so I bought 1. It arrived in cosmoline. Barrel with sight bases only. Marks indicate it's a post independence Ishy. Has a J J stamped on it so maybe they are a stash of John Jovino barrels although usually they have been stamped JJ Co. the finish looks good and the threads are finished and it doesn't look like a take off. I'll punch the bore tomorrow and see how it looks. Using a pin set the muzzle looks to be new spec. Since No 1 barrels are getting hard to find I thought I'd share. I was hoping for a Lithgow for a 1915 I have with a heavily pitted barrel. Yeah I know buy a lottery ticket.

Too bad, I had a WW2 Lithgow here for years, still in the white. I eventually sold it to another member here...for a spare. It was marked '42...and new.

Don't tell me stories like that :). If it's a good new old stock barrelI I'll be happy. I have a 1938 Brit that was DPed due to what appears to be a worn bore. It might be a better candidate. I only own one Ishy and it's a wire wrap but the barrel is good on it. Regardless if I punch this bore andi its good I'll be happy. If so I'd buy a few more but I found a local guy with a left over Brit FAL inch pattern kit I'm trying to buy, barrel included, unfortunately we are still a little ways off on price. I know they are tough to find compared to metrics but they haven't hit the gold standard yet.

It is possible for a Lithy to have an Indian barrel.

There's nothing wrong with RFI barrels. I've breeched up several with perfect results.

Barrels should be shot before we reject them...sometimes they surprise us.

The barrel punched out nice and appears to be a keeper. Right now I have a DPed 1938 Brit and a 1915 Lithgow that need barrels. The Lithgow was rearsenaled in the 50s. Previous owner shot a lot of corrosive ammo and somehow didn't get the word on proper cleaning. She's heavily pitted and won't shoot jacketed boolits. I've tried cast but she leads badly. I'm gonna sit on it for a bit and see if the inch pattern FN works out. If not I'll start pestering Brian with questions. As the DPed Brit is a candidate but more of a mystery on exactly what's wrong with it.
Regardless if your looking for new No 1 barrel if this is repesentative I think you'll be happy.
