Question on early P14 Winchester.

Hi folks--

I know someone has an anser to this question. I recently purchased a P14 Winchester in the 22,000 serial range. In disassembly and cleaning, I've notice the lack of letter "W" noting a Winchester part which is pretty common on several parts. I notice the triggerguard is stamped with an MC5. The same letter and number combination is found on the back of the bolt as well as on the right front side of the Winchester receiver. I also notice that a small triangle with a number "1" is stamped on the triggerguard, receiver and stock. The safety cover, safety plunger, rear sight leaf spring and floor plate release are all unmarked. Does anyone else find the same on their early manufactured Winchester P14?

There were different standards that the Brits had in place, many of which we not acceptable to the US.

Parts did not interchange for sure. No idea if some and some or hand fit or?

I have a sub 10K Winchester P14. Has the same MC5, but not sure what it means. Not a ton of "W" markings. Bayo lug, front sight, serial# prefix etc.

Hi, if i remember right at the beginning of P14 production in the US, Vickers shipped a load of stuff to the US - parts and equipment wise to make the P14.
Vickers were meant to make the P14 (100,000 of them) but cocked up and only made a few complete rifles. Could the early US made P14's be using up some Vickers made parts sent over when the contract went to the USA? i could imagine a shed load of easy to make components being produced before Vickers buggered it up.
