lend lease m1 article in fall GCA journal

I understand this article to say rebuilt m1s were sent, along with new springfield m1s? So some with rebuilt marked stocks would have come back, correct? I have had people tell me no LL m1 stock could have a rebuild mark on it and others to say yes they could.
Does anyone know dates that lend lease m1s were sent over?

If anyone who collects or just likes m1s does not belong to GCA and receive journal you should. I have really learned a lot from this publication, and it is very well put together.
It's one of the best mags. of this type I have seen.

It would make sense that later some rebuilds could go. The first group likely would have been right off the line. I've never seen one with rebuild marks.

The original specs said rebuilt M1s, including Winchesters, and a small percentage of new SA production. I got the impression that the intent was to send all the rebuilt Gas Traps as they came in for upgrade and fill out the shipments with new ones.
Time frame was March 1941 to April 1942. Specific rebuild marks were not used at that time.

Indications of a rebuild would be an early gas trap serial number plus stock conversion to use the trap door butt plate. Like Bob Seijas stated, no rebuild stamps, but often a second circle firing proof non serif P was added

I have mint Danish Navy M1s with RA on the stocks. They were in Danish Navy storage. Just an anchor mark on
sight. No serial number on the stock. These guns were never issued after rebuild

Over the years, a lot has been written in articles concerning the "direct conversions" (gas trap front end to gas port front end) Canfield even stated that new SA GHS stocks were installed in 1941, some collectors have
said that only the front end was changed-out and the solid butt plate was left alone (Winchester was still producing rifles with the solid butt plate during 1941). There are examples of the early Springfield gas trap period
stocks being altered to use the new trap door butt plate too, some are done very well while others not that nice - but they all worked.

It was Jim? your post was the first I seen that said any destination. IIRC lend lease also went to the Danes ,and Greeks and even the east Germans got bunches I think mostly carbines in their case and then there were the Koreans and Chinese. Anything left over Carter and Clinton did their living best to destroy.

Well, if you read the first three or four posts you'd see we're talking about the 1941/1942 shipments and the Germans, Danes,Koreans and Chinese weren't involved. You weren't even involved until just now. Out looking for an argument are you?

I would mention something that I am not sure is in print, but I noted some years ago when I was tracking down M1 quantities.

The official figure for lend lease is ~38,000. However if you add up the numbers purchased by Interarms and sold to client states we did not want to officially support (like 10,000 sold to Peru, then sold to Interams and then sold to Austria around 1955~56) you end up with a lot more rifles being sold by the MOD to Interarms in the 1953 to 1959 time frame.

One suspects the US was using Interarms as an agent to distribute such arms, the commercial poofs added in the UK would preclude the obvious questions.

In any case I have wondered about rifles that show the latter "lend lease dates" being original or arms directed through the UK post war.
