Carbine Ammo
A friend just gave me 450 rds of American Eagle FMJ ammo made by federal. Does any one have any experience with this stuff ? I am a garand guy and own only one Carbine a mixmaster Inland. I have only been shooting the LC I acquired from the CMP years ago.

Should be fine. I've never heard of any problems with it.

I've shot a good bit of the Federal FMJ carbine ammo in the past and have had no problems with it.
-
I've used it along with Aguila, no difference at a 100yds...

I'd be happy with any carbine ammo right now. I can't find it at all in Houston, at least as a price less than $30.00 a box for Aguila and even that's rare. I have seen some Wolf around here but I won't shoot that in a carbine
Even Sportsman's Guide has all their .30 Carbine on backorder.

What little ammo is available here in the Fort Worth area is all FMJ. If you find it the next problem is finding a place where you can shoot it. Most of the ranges don't want it around. Some of the outdoor ranges allow it but very few of the indoor ranges will.
Still, you did good. If you have access to some private property you're really good to go.
Enjoy it.

There was plenty of carbine ammo at the show I went to today. One guy even had 10 boxes of USGI surplus. He probably still has it, $40/box. And there were plenty of (CMP) spam cans there too. Price ranged from $110/can up to $240!:yikes::dunno: I bought some .38 S&W for my Webley and a couple more boxes of reloadable 9Mak. About the only thing that they had apparently run out of was .380 auto.

JIMB, I can't say there is plenty of it here as per my first post but you are right about the price. Aguila FMJ is selling here for $30.00 - $36.00 a box of 50. I wish the ammo manufacturers would crank out some more

If you can stand the wait then the CMP might be the solution. Their website says order now for June delivery, $155 per 500 + $8.95 shipping works out to about 33 cents per round or $16.50 for a box of 50.
