Picked up this minty second model Smith and Wesson .455 cal which was the personal side arm of Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Seymour Ditchburn. He signed up in 1915 served as a machine gunner in the 122nd Muskoka Regiment was wounded in the leg in Belgium recovered in England, was sent home to Canada. Re enlisted and granted a commission in the Royal Forestry Corp. and went back overseas for the duration of the WW1 R.F.C. stamp appears on the back strap. The gun appears unfired.
Gun looks about flat new and so does the leather work. Nice...
OK, can we all have a go in your time machine? I can't imagine any other way such a classic could remain in such stunning factory fresh condition?

Sales marks are something I haven't seen on a S&W .455 before. "RFC" could also be pre-RAF, Royal Flying Corps..
I will go in the Time machine with you lot to pick up some bargains, very nice "Wheel Gun" #1oilman....
Royal Forestry Corps for sure I have the gentleman's complete military records at hand direct from Canadian archives and the gun came direct from the decendants

On the bottom of the butt.
None of the usual British military markings. Which do appear on the left rear of the OP's revolver frame. Having both types of marking would be interesting!
