It doesn't appear to be painted but parkerized. It's an all correct Lithgow bayonet, all dates and markings are right. An arsenal rebuild isn't unusual. If it was painted black, then someone has done that after.

If it's paint then a bit of acetone will wipe it right off. I don't think it is though.Quote:
