It looks very honest to me.
I agree, looks good. Worn enough, with the nice, milled forearm band (hope the name is correct).
Matching and with some history (probably true).
Nothing to not like it.
I would want to see better photos of the bolt handle/ser nr. It looks like it has been milled & renumbered from the poor photos shown. I also didn't see any stock numbers. Otherwise a nice K98k.
Sarge
Can someone comment on the plum colored extractor? I thought plum/purple looking parts like that could be a sign of an RC or rework. I've seen some bolt shrouds that can exhibit subtle signs of this too but not as obviously. I'm curious mostly due to not finding a whole lot of solid information last I looked.
The extractor is correct.
I've seen a few that the serial numbers were welded up, filed/machined and renumbered. This one looks original to me.
Guys,
Interesting enough, Badger mention in a current post (it's in a PDF in the post)
"Help Identifying dot k98" that;
"Extractors on early bolts are blue with a reddish brown color, which
became more noticable as the year progressed."
I know he referring to a 1943 dot however this may apply to this rifle, maybe?
Any thoughts?
