Need Help with Spanish "Sword" ID

Bought this at an auction last night, rather spur of the moment. I believe it to be Spanish of roughly WWII vintage as it uses almost identical handgrips to that period Mauser bayonet.

This is not a combat sword. I'm not even sure it's legit. Could be a repro although why they would make one as old as this one appears I don't know

I have seen the markings and believe it to be for the Spanish Police as the other style markings I saw belonged to the Civil Guard and these were the two groups identified as using this style. At best this is strictly ceremonial or dress as the quality is really poor. Blade goes down to a thin strip in the handguard that is held in place by the two screws and an screw on the end which is missing. Without that screw, it is somewhat loose. Originally it was all cromed but only the blade still has the majority of this.

The only marking on the scabbard I can find is the V at the top.

Looks like I stumped everyone. Hoping someone out there knows what it is. The scabbard should be chromed but very little left. The handle is not chromed and buffs out to a nice shine with some fine steel wool. Blade is chromed and mostly there but has some cracking. Any ideas on how to fix the nut and the rear of the handle? It's one area that isn't shown in any photo's I've seen of the reproductions.

I'm guessing that it was made at the same Spanish Arms factory in Toledo as this Bolo bayonet in my collection?

This is the closest match I can find and is the "correct" sword although I do not understand much Spanish. Web search will show several companies making high end reproductions.

Like I mentioned earlier, the quality of this is not the best so at best it is a ceremonial sword. At worst a cheap reproduction that someone left it a damp area for an extended period of time.

I did find out what the end nut looks like so I can hopefully recreate one. Large round insert with a cap on it and the two small holes needed to tighten it. I did find one photo of an original and it did look the same except the marking and it was in better shape. Maybe it is legit.

I went through a library of articles on Spanish weapons but didn't find an exact match. It appears to be a Modelo 1909 but I cant say if it's genuine or a reproduction. The crest should shed some light on the use.

What I'm wondering about this sword is whether it is a reproduction of an earlier sword but was made specifically for use by the Spanish armed forces on ceremonial occasions? I believe that this is normal practice with other armed forces to use a reproduction/replica of an earlier sword for parades/ceremonies rather than use a valuable historic piece?

The 1909 is the closest I came up with also. Only found one original and it looked very close. Best guess is that this was for the police forces rather than the normal civil guard. Maybe it is normal for a sword, I don't know how they are put together. The blade is cut down to a narrow strip, maybe 3/8's inch to a half inch and then held by the two handle screws and the missing screw on the pommel end. Just doesn't seem that strong to me but I guess that's how they keep the guard and handle attached.

Civil Guard swords seem to have a crest closer to the Italian Fascist crest. Didn't compare them for accuracy but it is what I was reminded of.

Having looked at various swords and how their handles attach to the blade, it appears there is nothing unusual about the handle portion of the blade being substantially smaller than the blade itself so this may very well be an original although one in not the best condition, at least the scabbard. Sword itself isn't too bad.
