My "new" Springfield 1903, 1910 receiver and 1905 barrel...

Hey everyone, My name is Robert and I am new to the forum. I recently picked up a Springfield 1903 to add to my collection. The SN is 454686 (1910) with a 05' SA barrel. Can anyone shed some light on how this happened? I know there was alot of updating of the 1903's going on then Thanks ahead of time!

Welcome to the forum, nice rifle and specially a nice scabbard for the accompanying bayonet. I wonder also if the barrel was changed well after the fact. I haven't looked at receiver dates of course, I'm guessing you're right. Doesn't matter to me though, nice group. Maybe you could give us a couple of larger pics?

Your rear sight leaf and slide are WW2, very late parts. stock has two stock bolts which date from around 1917 until the end. The SA 05 barrel could have been military installed or by
someone else.

Yea I knew that, The receiver/barrel date have me slightly confused though. Also the car-touche on the side is very faint, possible says RHD, PHD, BHD? I've looked and cant find that car-touche anywhere.

Thank you, and I believe it is a first variation bayonet scabbard. I'll upload some more pics as soon as I can.

Thank you, got it all as a package deal.

That's one lucky deal. This is one of my all time favorite rifle/bayonet combinations. I just like the look of them. No matter what, the bayonet won't lose value...very expensive with that scabbard.

Absolutely, I love the combination, it just looks serious and means business. I was very lucky to be able to acquire these.

The sling looks like a WW2? Does it have steel frogs or brass frogs with the original blackening? Dated?
