rare post WW2 rebuild stamp found on carbine stocks
Billy Pyle's newsletter, "The Garand Stand Report" is about M1 rifles but often includes other US small arms. While looking through the Fall 1994 issue No 16, I came across an article by Scott Duff titled "More On SPG". Mr Duff's article was about the SA SHM and SA SPG rebuild markings found on M1 carbines. During the period from 1947 to 1951, civilian small arms inspector Stanley S.P. Gibbs (SPG) inspected both M1 Rifles and M1 Carbines.
Scott Duff also includedAttachment 82421 photos of both the SA SHM and SA SPG rebuild stamps found on carbine stocks and I have posted a photo of the SA SPG rebuild stamp. These are quite rare to find but I have seen another years ago.

SA SPG post war rebuild stamp on M1 Rifle
Here is a photo of an M1 rifle stock with the post WW2 SA SPG rebuild stamp. This stamp can be found on M1 rifle stocks but is not common, the carbine stock with SA SPG, I would consider rare, but have seen others.Attachment 82486
