I have a U.S. M.S.I. fighting knife still in the wrapping ( I opened it to see what maker it was).
I am not familiar with that maker. Can anyone shed some light on that for me? Thanks, Benny

Here's a thread about this maker. That is if you refer to a K-Bar made by MSI. Pics would be priceless... Manufacturing Specialties Inc Allen, Texas Total 5,498 Delivery circa April 1983
Anyway, here you go... Read all of it... MSI Combat Kinfe - EDGED WEAPONS - U.S. Militaria Forum
Thank you, that is more than I knew before. Have any idea of what it is worth? I really don't want to take all of the wrapping off it since it may be worth more with that still on.
Search completed auctions on ebay. A few of them have sold recently.
I don't think you're going to find they have great value. Their post war and recent...they're users...
I have seen several on E-Bay and were up for bid at 2 to 3 hundred dollars. I have seen one at a military antique show here in Raleigh NC for 3 hundred .
A "newbie" here adding his 2 cents. I also had an MSI knife and did some research on it, most of which has already been commented on. As far as rarity, what I read is that only about 5,500 were made in 1982. It's probably not rare, but is uncommon.
The one I had came with a USN MK 2 "plastic" sheath and I am thinking that it wasn't original with the knife. Benny--does your's have a sheath & if so what kind?
It definitely could be a useful tool, but my MSI would not take any awards for beauty. Had many machining marks on it.
Yes, it does have a sheath. It is black leather and wrapped up with the knife.
One on ebay with 17 hours left to go, it is currently at $40
