Ishapore 2A1 Sling
I am wondering about the correct sling for the Ishapore 2A1. I've seen a lot of 2A1 pictures with the typical canvas Lee Enfield sling, but the one I just purchased came with a leather sling. It is roughly 54 inches long, just under 1 inch wide, and it has a metal binding device.
Is anyone familiar with the correct sling for a 2A1?
Thanks!

Doesn't sound familiar, show us a pic or two?

I would think a standard 37 pattern canvas sling would be correct for any of the Ishapore Enfield's.

I have a friend (Special Forces Colonel) who gave me a web sling he purchased from an Indian PX when he was auditing a course in India. Unmarked with very coarse weave. For what its worth.

Here is a picture of the leather sling.

That's for a German '98k...doesn't hurt though.

I've had several Indian web slings and they are exactly as described in post #4. The weave is very coarse, some hard and some kind of soft. The brass fittings sometimes need a bit of dollying to get them through the swivel loops.

Thanks for the info, Everyone!

Here's what the Indian Slings look like. Mine is 45 inches long, they are also about an 1/8th inch wider than the normal Commonwealth slings

The part number is strange, ??*/1005- 001770- 0-???? The 00 indicates the national origin indicator. 99 for the UK, 13 for Belgium and so on. 00 and 001 indicates the USA according to the NSN check list as I recall it! No doubt that it is the cheapo Indian loose weave.
