Hi folks...i have what appears to be a completely original 1917 SHTLE ( other then being sporterized ) I am confused on a couple of markings. There is a number 17 ( for the year obviously ) where a reissue stamp of usually a higher number ex 42..39..44..of whatever year it was put back into service. The number on mine is 17, the same year as rifle, does that mean it was repaired in 1917 ? There is only one number crossed out on it and that is the number on the adjustable sight. everything else is MATCHING not forced stamped. There is also the letter C stamped on brass butt plate and the letters F..T over diff places on rifle but NO R for factory repaired just F T. Any help will be great.
