Got a M 1917 in a trade yesterday...some info appreciated...
I got a nice, all factory, US Rifle M 1917 in a trade yesterday. low 4 digit SN puts it as made in December 1917, made by Winchester.
All there but the stacking swivel, which I have one of...Did not notice till I got it home, but there is a CAI stamp near the front sight. Does anyone know were these came from? It's nearly all matching, stock and steel parts, except the bolt, and has few stamps in the wood...nothing unusual on it, except it's full of cosmoline or similar and it seems to work fine.
Got it in trade from a gun shop who had nearly $700 on it, in trade for a Ruger revolver that I had never shot.
This will go well with my Springfield, and now I wish I had never sold my Garand...
Any help with the CAI info is appreciated...thanks!
