Had a pleasant club day at Bisley today, shooting a 300yd target at 400yds on Century, we all had our go faster rifles out with Gucci scopes, there's a 9 gusting to 17 mph cross on wind, everyone's clicking away with their 1/8" and 1/4" MOA turrets, getting on target and with some half decent shooting going on too. I also had with me 7rds of .303 homeloads for the Trials T I'd found knocking around at home that I wanted to fire off. So, brought the T along as it's probably over a year since it's been out. On producing the rifle a club member and friend with little interest in "old guns" asked what MOA adjustments I'll be setting on my MK1 scope, so I said 1 click deflection will give me 2 MOA and the elevation is in yds not MOA so I just turn it to 4 and V bulls are guaranteed to follow! He laughs and tells me to go forth and multiply (he's no fool), I settle down to shoot ,BANG...V bull!!!! No one was more surprised than me, wish I'd put my best poker face on and put the rifle away there and then! I did get another bull and the rest of the shots were there or thereabouts. I do love it when a bit of firing point banter comes right.
Should shoot the old girl more really, my 4T with Mk3 gets all the action because of ease of use with the Mk3 but those Mk1s are great if you are patient with setting them up. Anyway, so that's what made my day today.
