What do you think about this serial number? 4 beat twice?
It just rings out aloud "FAZAKERLEY' production. In much the same way as you'd think of water soluble steel when looking at a 60's or 70's BMC car
The 6 digit serial number is also repeated on the bolt and on the fore-stock. (?)
Yep, agree with Peter. In general (untidy) appearance it looks typical Faz. However, I don't pretend to know a lot about Faz serial numbering history, but isn't six digits one too many.....? Is that what you were originally getting at giove?
Incidentally, whilst the bolt body does indeed bear the same number, it has been renumbered to the rifle; I don't think it is 'factory original'.
The rifle isn't mine; it was offered to me. Yes, 6 digits are too many; if I am not wrong, six digits are in the No. 4 Mk 2 S.N.
It seems that the rifle has gone into the arsenal in Canada: the fore stock is Long Branch.
What doesn't convince me, is not the S.N. on the butt socket, but the S.N. on the bolt and on the fore stock: I don't think Long Branch would have printed six digits.

Your forend is not just a Long Branch, it is also marked with the Canadian post 1947 Technical Services "Proof mark".
I note that it is marked in a similar manner as the (well done but) fake Long Branch "sniper" that was at Fulton's a few years ago.
It's not a sniper rifle.
I dfon't know if it is a target rifle; I haven't seen it yet. I only have some pictures.
A bolt marking is on the attached picture: it looks like a B or a LB.
What is the Canadian post 1947 Technical Services Proof mark?
