G.33/40 Unit Markings
I was going through some posts anyone know what the outcome of this post was?
G.33/40 Unit Markings?
A 1940, 945 code, G.33/40 rifle has the following stamped on the buttplate, " III 3 ". Anyone have a good source for WW II Germanicon unit markings. These rifles were used by mountian units, paratrooper units, and were furnished to their allies. Romania, Hungery, and Finlandicon all had mountian units that at one time were issued German equipment.

Johnny,
Were you trying to establish markings on the 8mm G33/40 Mountain rifle because these are the 10 points to identify the rifle as listed hope this is what you were after:
1. The metal tang in front of the magazine is marked “GERMANY”.
2. The top of the receiver is marked with a German inspection stamp Eagle over “63”, “dot” and “1942”.
3. The left side of the receiver is marked “9152”, “b”, with a Nazi Eagle over Swastika and with “G.33/40”.
4. The bottom of the butt stock is marked “9152”. The top of bolt handle is marked with a Nazi Eagle over Swastika.
5. The rear of the bolt handle is marked “9152 / b”
6. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked “6 N”.
7. The inside of the upper handguard is marked “2 / 9152 / b”.
8. The barrel (visible when the upper handguard is removed) is marked on the left side “9152 / b” with a nazi eagle over swastika stamp.
9. The top of the barrel is marked “dot 18-41O”.
10. The inside of the leather sling is marked “MADE IN / GERMANY”.
