With friends of mine in the reserve, we used to say that Italy was the most entertaining and challenging country for wargames, due to its orography.
Difficult for armor, extremely tough for normal infantry, it is a land for mountain troops and marines.
Ernie Pyle, his books are always a great read.
The third guy from the right, has an M1 Carbine with a Bayonet lug. Could this be WW2??

I'll go out on a limb and say WWII reenactors.
Looking at the topography no wonder the arty guys and tankies pulled their hair out some of those slopes would be alarming even in a tracked vehicle I have seen a few D-10's on stock piles go over on you tube & they weigh 77.870 Tonnes wet.
Actually the last shutdown I attended at a mine a D-11 got tired & laid down on a stockpile.
The low level of noise and grain in the pic ad the sharp focus make me think this is recent.
