I was taking some cartridge photos and came across these two cartridges and decided to take a photo.
Both cartridges had potential but just did not work out Attachment 90742

4.85×49mm & .276
The commercial Ruger 204 cartridge is very close to the 4,85x49mm and very accurate in single shot and bolt actions, even found in some AR-15 rifles
We had a chap using a .204 Ruger on the range at 300M he gave up in despair as the breeze though only slight not enough to bother us 6.5 hot rodders & 30 cal shooters but it was just all over the shop, I know cause I was the one pulling & marking the target that rifle never came back to the range but did account for a good few Reynards and ground mutton'
The extreme bottle shape of the .276 Pederson gives it away pity though I think it would have made a good round though having waxed ammo in a battle situation is asking for a jam
I too have a 4.85 tracer and ball round...those aren't seen much any more.
Jim, I see that the 4,85x49mm tracer is listed at $25.00 US on the auctions
the really rare .276 cartridge has the Winchester 1916 headstamp
I am not certain the Pederson rifle I seem to recall it used the Blish principal for the cycling of the action when fired is that the same as the Thompson & Luger? TIA

I have a .276 some where squirreled away will have a look for it not sure if its a live or inerted I do however have a .276 cartridge packet dated 1928.
The .276" Pedersen ctg is often described as greased but in reality it was dry waxed with a substance much like car wax.
German steel cased ammo made 1944-5 was also waxed to improve reliability.
a few photos showing the differences between the 276 Enfield and 276 Pedersen cartridges.
A modern day loading of the 276 Pedersen might go well in a semi auto todayAttachment 90802
