91/38 Cavalry Carbine
Guy offered this up on a local board but had a full mailbox for over two weeks. I finally posted a counter ad wanting to buy one and made contact that way. It's a late war (for Italy) 1943 Gardone carbine, no real issues other than the bayonet was bent inside the mounting bracket. Got that fixed and here it is. Original everything that I can tell, no sanding or refurbishment either. Stock cartouche is rather boring as are the barrel markings. Interesting "Z" mark on end of fore stock. Bore is excellent. Sling is not original. I put that on after purchase. What makes this a little more interesting is that it came in its original box from Navy Arms and it is not import marked. Box label unfortunately was taped over so I can't read the information on it to tell when they sold it etc. Story was the guy bought it for this father because he killed his first deer with a Carcano. He also got him a box of Norma ammo and 5 clips still in original plastic packaging (not Italian but US seller) but he never fired it or opened either the ammo or the clips. I assume and I know that is never a good idea, that Navy Arms imported this in the 1960's before the markings came into play. If anyone could help support or disprove this assumption I'd appreciate it just for curiosity sake.
