Are there any Model Shipbuilders here?

As the title says, I,m interested in finding more out on similar kits in the link below, that particular ship HMS Charybdis, I was part of a ship swap as it was our escort up the Gulf just before the 1st Gulf war started, can't say it was long, but enough time to down 3 pints of bitter, which at the time was most enjoyable as the first never touched the sides........

Back to the kit, I,ve been looking for something like it or similar as the price is a bit over the top for me, in fact it only has to be a Leander class model, as long as I could change the gun to the sea wolf set up.

1/72 scale is huge for a ship which explains the cost.

Thanks Aragorn243, regarding scale never really paid too much attention to that, after looking on line at 1/72 models probably a bit big for my needs, well I'd be happy but doubt the boss would, struggle for space as it is........

Cinders thanks for the link...... searched high and low and never found that one, more my price range, now I need to find the same scale for the SS Esso Pacific........now that would be bigger than the house in 1/72.

I built a 1/350 Bismarck model years ago. That was the perfect size IMO.

Sorry BD no models that I could find there was the Esso Glasgow though do not know if it was her sister ship.

I used to build ships all the time but have not since out of collage. That being said, I've been buying them for years. Also 1/72 scale aircraft. Those I have built more recently but have about 40 un-built ones now.

In ships I have kits of the four German battleships of WWII, a rather large scale motorized HMS Hood and an Ark Royal. Probably several others but not sure what or where they currently are.

Only two of my childhood ships have survived and I really regret that. I had a fleet of over 40 at one time. Now I have the Admiral Scheer and the Pennsylvania. I also have a USS Saratoga that I partially scratch built out of wood and used other model parts to make the turrets, etc. All three are currently lost somewhere in the attic. The Pennsylvania was rebuilt from an Arizona model and parts from a New Jersey to upgrade it to late war configuration. The Admiral Scheer was a high quality model with actual chains for the anchors. So that's why those three survived.

The odd thing is, I didn't really build planes when I was younger, I had a few but nothing extensive. Didn't do that until I was married and had a kid. Used to enter them in the fair and won several ribbons with them.

God...............shame she's still not sailing, we really need her now, with most of the Frigates tied up alongside each other with major engine faults!!
