1916 LSA SMLE Mk III*-Help identifying unusual marks of knox form and receiver ring

Hello folks,

I recently acquired a 1916 LSA SMLE MkIII* that has some unusual stamp marks on the left side of the receiver ring and knox form. All of the inspection marks I have looked at on the rifle are LSA (X). Rifle is in very good shape with pristine crown and strong rifling. All parts matching with the exception of the rear sight, which is now a MkIII* without windage adjustment. The serial number on it is crossed out with a line, but is not forced matched to the rest of the rifle. The "*" stamped after the MkIII on the right side of the wrist socket is an open 5 point star (unusual as opposed to an asterisk) and is not centered under the LSA and cypher stamps - consistent with the conversion to MkIII* configuration from MkIII. Also the receiver still has the magazine cut off slot, but is covered by the stock - which also is numbered to the rifle.

Anyway - both the left side of the receiver ring and the knox form have a unusual "G" or "C with a lower tail" followed by an inverted "V" and a " ' ". Pic attached. Have been unable to determine what these are from my reference material or internet searches. Any insight from the group would be welcome.

C mark is C enclosing a broad arrow the Canadian ownership mark used from c1906-mid 50s.

Neat, a C Broad arrow rifle, one of ours... Don't see that many comparatively... You're in Winnipeg?

Ok -thanks. Did not recognize it because of the way it was struck (twice) such that the upper part and bottom of the "C" is missing as well as the left side of the "arrow" head. Also use to seeing smaller C broad arrow marks like the pic below from another MkIII I found on the web. That is very cool. Thank you much.

Thanks Jim. Did not recognize it as such due to the poor strike - however see what you are seeing now - that is very cool. Yes in Winnipeg.
