Irish Butt Discs
Following on from a discussion elsewhere, has anybody ever seen a post 1922 marked Irish butt ID disc?
My understanding was that Irish SMLE's were marked with the double F mark for Fianna Fail usually on the knox form, although I have seen the mark further up the barrel on some rifles.
My assumption was that Eire wanted to get away from Commonwealth markings and put their own identity forward.
Even if it did mean wearing German "coal scuttle" style helmets courtesy of Vickers at Foots Cray Kent! :)

For what is known on these check out this link:
Fritz's FF marked Enfield sticky
Short answer, the FF mark is a acceptance mark on arms with work done in the UK, both commercial (.22 rifles, some early BSA re-barreled SMLE rifles) and Government (Enfield locke), not an ownership mark.
Not found on discs. Not is over 500 samples of arms with discs.
