Nasty business. Judging by the hole in the front of the tank, I presume its the tank crew on the ground?
I think they are Germans judging from the kit, German mess tins in particular, lying around them.
Is it German mess tin or actually a bino case? Those look like US M1 AT mines all stacked up. Results of an attack/counterattack, now being cleared?
I don't think that's a hole in the tank either. Yes, those are Germans on the ground.
Close to the left body, it looks like an MG42 without the stock.
You can see inside the receiver.
I’d say German soldiers.
Look just to the right of the drivers side clevis in the front, that looks like a nasty hole.
Nice place in a narrow street for a Pak 40 to dump a couple of rounds into the front of you, looks like all hatches are open hard to say if they all got out in one piece let alone alive.
The Sherman appears not to have Ronson'ed after taking the rounds.
Probably one of the later models with the wet storage of ammunition. Much less likely to burn. If that's a hit on on the lower hull it looks like it could have taken out the gears to the tracks and may not have even entered the crew space. All the hatches are open which perhaps is a good sign for the crew.
