Our undertanding from the Culvers was that Guntalk would continue as a "Cracker barrel" environment. Now I see "Moved" on some posts; what's cooking?

Maybe it was that post about NAFTA / trucking.
Their rules, their ballpark, etc.
Hello Loius.... :)
Yes, it is open forum, for Gun Talk, os the description states, a "forum for general conversations about guns", as in the ones that go "bang".
We've received a significant number of complaints from other members that content unrelated to guns was being posted amongst other forums, including this one. Upon clarifying the intent with Gloria, we've been asked to try and keep the forum content relatively focused on the forum titles and text defining what should be posted within them. It sure makes it easier for people, or we might as well just have one large forum.
For example, the 2nd Amendment, Political & Off-Topic forum is intended for discussions about politics and the 2nd Amendment, plus OT (off-topic) material that doesn't fit elsewhere.
The moved threads that were originally posted in the Gun Talk forum have not been deleted, but may be found in their entirety in the 2nd Amendment, Political & Off-Topic forum, as that forum was where topics of that content nature were meant to be posted. The moved placeholder is designed to be a guide to help people who originally started reading a post in one forum, to easily be able to click on the link and go directly to the thread and continue reading it.
Im sure there's posts that are borderline and could be relevant to either forum, so if there are any of those that you feel are "mission critical" to be placed in a specific forum, we do apologize. Let us know and we'll move them back if appropriate...
We'd appreciate everyone's cooperation is helping us maintain some common sense guidelines.....
Dear CSP Admin,
I believe the confusion is resulting from the fact that on the 'old' (like 3 weeks ago) "Gun Talk" was indeed the " Cracker Barrel" which we all used to sit around and discuss every thing under the sun, yes even guns some times.
Dick had made it quite clear on numerous occasions that what was "Gun Talk" was a "Cracker Barrel Forum".
Hence our confusion here at the new digs (I too believed that the old rules were still in effect).
So hopefully you can understand why some of us post off topics threads in Gun Talk and forgive us until we learn the new rules.:sos:
But be patient as we "old dogs" have difficulty with new tricks.:banghead:

Ken, you are quite welcome over here when you want to talk about non-firearms related issues. Since I really enjoy a lot of your posts, especially the one about your recent trip to the US, I would be delighted to see you post more on "our" forum.
Well as much as I love my guns and everything related, I COME HERE TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE WORLD THROUGH THE FOLKS WHO MADE GUN TALK SURVIVE THIS LONG.
WHAT GET POSTED IN GUN TALK SHOULD STAY THERE....PERIOD!
May I suggest you go to the upper right corner of any forum screen and click on the UNREAD POSTS link, directly below your user name. When you do, this software spits out a list of all new posts FROM ALL SUB-FORUMS based upon the time of the last post. As a result, little things like where the post resides no long have so much meaning. Everything recently posted is available, and it is very much like the old "cracker barrel" format.

PS. Mmmm.. According to Internet proll caps is shouting. All caps with red font is rabidly shouting. All caps with red and increased font size means everyone around you have flecks of spit on their faces. To quote Dan Akroid in Ghostbusters, "I feel so... funky."
Thanks Ken.....
I guess I asked the wrong Culver.....
Now I know what the old expression about the "messenger" means ... :bash:
Just so I'm clear on what the "rules of engagement" should be, as originally established by Dick, but differing from Gloria's last direction .... :dunno:
The Gun Talk forum should really be titled Gun Talk Cracker Barrel Forum, for the free-for-all posting of everything and anything a member wants, including political material, OT (off-topic) content of any sort, or whatever else .... end of message... full stop ... period?
.... and the Political forum was also set up and made available to post the same political content as the Gun Talk forum ... correct? If so, what's the point of that forum? Shouldn't it just be deleted and everything dumped into Gun Talk since there's virtually no difference to the content in either place?
Finally, where should I tell the members to post, who have been asking for a general forum to be able to discuss "guns", instead of only having that ability to post within the genre type forums? Create another forum called Real Gun Talk?
Next time I call Gloria, I'll ask to speak to "The Major" and see what he'd like to do, but these folks are pretty beat up right now, so how about some guidance from some of the "silent majority" members as to what they'd like to see? If you'd rather send PM's instead of publicly post, I understand and that's fine too....
Remember, these are YOUR forums, not ours and although there's obviously CSP members who would rather be elsewhere, we are doing the best we can to be polite and courteous good hosts, while you're community is temporarily visiting here. So, I'd really like to see you guys get what you want if we can implement it, as long as it's signed-off by the CSP ownership (Gloria and Dick).
Appreciate the heads up and clarification Ken... :beerchug:
This is the Second Amendment and Political Forum and we've always been pretty free wheeling about what's posted here. Jokes, politics, the Second Amendment and whatever else comes along. That's the way it's been and that's the way I hope it continues. Face it, the people on this forum and the other forums generally have included people from the other forums. It's the same people so why would the format change?
Reminds me of the story of the librarian that got so peeved by all those pesky readers coming into her library messing up her exquisitely organized shelves....that she closed it!
Try to remember why we're all here in the first place, and the wisdom in attempting to fix what ain't broke!
