Nothing even close in my book.
while thw subject of SRS's model 1898 Krags I have had # 425484. The only info I have found is that is a 1903 build.Do you have any other info?
Thanks for the quick reply. A friend of mine said he has a book he called "Serial numbers of martial arms number 4 or 5". He said it has serial numbers of 03s, 1917 & Trapdoors in it. Thought he remembered seeing Krags in it too. Is this a reliable source, honestly haven't heard of it before. Soon as he gets back home he would check to see if there were Krags in it. This is only my second Krag, my other was an early 1892 with the ramrod channel filled in. We parted ways some 20 years ago. It was quite accurate at 100 yards with heavy gas checked lead bullets. Think I still have the dies, bullets & brass, but not sure about the load data. Where do you find SRS info, are there books about Krag rifles you would recommend getting? How close matters? 100, 250 Plus or minus, or more like 5 or 10? Thanks again.
Thanks Jim, My friend said I could have the book when he finds it, as he has no longer any use for it. When I had my other early Krag, it was just as a shooter. Had no access to on line info as I do today. Never new there was so many small variations in a rifle that was only in service some ten odd years, find this very interesting.
Look the books up online, you'll see their value. That's a valuable gift he's giving.
