M1A1 stock leather
I've obtained an original leather cheek piece to install on my stock. I also got several brass rivets with it, so I can install it. Is there a rivet tool I can obtain locally to install these rivets. I'm pretty handy and should be able to install these provided I have the right tool. Any suggestions on where I can obtain one of these tools. TIA

Ken,
If you don't have any, Look thru thrift shops for leather items you can buy cheap to practice on.
A fellow member just told me, he'd bought a 2nd-3rd (?) hand leather sofa cheap that supplied plenty of Cow skin.
Been told furniture, upholstery stores sometimes have sample books with discontinued lines you can buy.
I'm not sure what size the rivets are, but do know you can buy them cheap to practice with from these guys:

Not these. Solid Brass Rivets | Brass Solid Rivets | Brass Rivets | Jay-Cee Sales & Rivet, Inc.
What kind of rivet do you have? Solid rivets can be installed with a steel plate, a punch and a hammer. Put some of these on an archery arm guard long ago that way. Wholesale Trade Suppliers Lacing - Boot Hook - 100
The "proper" tool is really friggin' expensive. Hand Rivet Squeezers | Jay-Cee Sales & Rivet, Inc.

I think Ken can figure it out.

Rivets are 7/4 or 7-4 rivets Check the auto parts stores. Those were often used for installing brake shoe linings. They were also provided by Harley Davidson because they used them on motorcycle brakes.

I did some work on my repro stock using 7/4 rivers and it turned out great. Used a couple of cheap punches and a rivet set (see pics). Tried a few for practice before moving on to the real thing.
