TWO SF LADS INJURED IN SYRIA - RPG7
Milsurps is about weaponry once used or currently used by Forces around the world, and the enjoyment using these weapons brings to a small band of dedicated shooters.
One weapon which isn't focused on too often is the RPG7. It is without doubt a very sophisticated weapon, albeit it has its weak points like any other weapon.
When Andy Harrison the CO of 2 PARA chased an insurgent down an alley on his own in Afghanistan, the insurgent turned and fired his RPG7 at a distance of about 20 metres.
The weaklink of the RPG series of anti tank weapons is that the missile only arms after 30 metres in flight. The missile struck him full force on his bady armour plate injuring his pride and also a few ribs.
Once the rocket reaches a safe distance from the shooter (about 10-20 metres), the built-in rocket booster engine ignites and further accelerates the grenade, greatly enhancing the effective range (up to 500+ metres for single warhead grenades, up to 200+ meters otherwise using Frag heads which are particularly effective on soldiers). When one considers it was designed in 1958, at has stood the test of time.

However, when these tubes are loaded and randomly fired, they cause untold damage to troops with the high explosive heads used, which would normally be used for light skinned tanks as a HESH round.
Last year Matt Tonroe of 3 PARA (22SAS) was killed alongside Sgt Dunbar US SF in Syria, a place the MOD deny we are in, but the PM states we should be there to prevent the spread of ISIS.

I look back, and often think, "There but for the grace of God go I", but there comes a time in your life when you feel there is to much loss of Military life...........and for what, when opposing forces use such random weaponry to great effect and seem to have access to hundreds of heads for the RPG.
Russia is well ensconced in Syria as we know, and no doubt delivering thousands of heads and RPG's daily.
