Morning all.
I was wondering if anyone out there has a good source for Japanese translation, I recently bought a very nice Samurai with the NTHK documents and I can only translate the basic information so far.
Any help appreciated.

Morning all.

We managed it here before, if you recall... Worth a try?
Good idea Jim!
Pay attention at the back of the class and brush up on your Japanese, because I will be posting the exam soon!
A Japanese text translation app on your phone maybe? Perhaps worth a try?
You can now point your phone at Japanese text and get an instant translation
I've used Google Translate at work a few times for translating engineering prints. If the text is clear with good contrast, it works pretty well. Like, Phillip K. Dick futuristic type stuff kind of well. Eerie almost, haha.
The contrast seems to be key. Some may recall the metal canister I posted about a while back with a threaded lid. The contrast between the yellowing paper and fading lettering was poor enough it did not work well.
I've tried a translation app with some success on the clear large text, but when it's used on the handwritten 'cursive' Japanese text, it can't make head or tails of it....
Ironically, the white English translation companion NTHK document to the main Japanese document (that should be notorized in English I believe) has also unfortunately been written in Japanese shorthand that I really can't make much headway with!
I know the Samurai is fitted in Type 98 IJA furniture and the blade dates from 1850 ISH, Kari era and it's regarded as an important blade (70 points NTHK ranking)
It's fitted with an original Field grade officers knot/tassle and was captured in Burma.
