I just saw an auction of GOA and in it the sell noted Mosin-Nagants with tri-angle on them were issued in East Germany, could anybody expand on this? SDH

Actually, a Mosin M44 or M91/30 is east German issue if it has a large triangle stamped on the barrel, about the size of the Izhevsk triangle or bigger with either a 1, 2 or 3 stamped inside it.
Make sure it's really the east german stamping though and not just a dumb seller who'se mistaking the Izhevsk triangle for the EG stamp ;)
Yep! it's an Issy. it took a little doing to enhance the pic, but, it is an arrow, not a number. Having your information I went and checked my own guns and on one of the re-builds there is a tri-angle w/1 on the wood, does this make sense?-SDH
Triangle 1 should be on the barrel. On the wood it might not mean the same thing ;)
