I got 2 - packs of Norma 5.5mm Berdan Primers in a Auction 'Box Lot' of reloading components - 200 Primers to the pack (Total 400 primers).
Does anybody actually reload Berdan Primed ammo or can these be used in Boxer Primed brass?

Sometimes you have to! You find Boxer brass for 7.62x45 or 8x56R! It's fairly tedious, but not impossible by a long patch!
NO! Both the primer depth and diameter are different, and you don't have an anvil in the case, so the primer won't fire even if you did wedge it into a Boxer caseQuote:

If you're anywhere near SE Michigan, give me a PM. CDD
RCBS makes a Berdan de-capping tool that kinda looks and acts like an old, miniature beer can opener. You pierce the primer and the gizmo levers it out. I've read about the "water torture" method...but the RCBS gizmo actually works!
I have a bunch of 7.62 Russian brass I have been reluctant to just toss out. Is there a source for some Berdan primers somewhere in this thread? If so, I may be interested. Thx
Dave Sutherland (Old Western Scrounger) used to sell RWS Berdans....but they quit a number of years ago....what I have I got from them, and have not been able to locate anyone else handling them.
Chris Dingle who used to post over on the old CSP, and may have made the move here is the guy to talk to. Chris loads Berdans routinely, and is the guy that'll know where to get them if anyone can.
Try this website for Berdan primers, I bought some from a reloader who ordered them from here. http://smallarms.en.ecplaza.net/

"...can these be used in Boxer Primed brass?..." No. Different dimensions and berdan primed brass has the anvil in the primer pocket(that's why the brass has two primer flash holes). Boxer primers have it in the primer. That's the wee bit of metal in a boxer primer.
Reloading berdan primed brass is more trouble than it's worth.
"...hate to toss them..." Don't do that. Trade goods if nothing else. Haven't a clue what brass uses a 5.5mm berdan primer. They're usually numbered according to the size.
Hello,
Do you happen to still have the Norma Berdan primers?
Thanks!
