Looking for an extractor!!

See pictures also. Extractor is worn down and doesn't actually extract any longer.

This is from a BSA "Garden Gun" 410 shotgun from the early 1900's I'd guess. the bolt appears to be the same as a No.1 but the bolt head has a catch added that grabs the rail of the boltway when its pushed down onto it. The Extractor is flush on the left hand side - I tried to see if a No.4 extractors would fit but a) it's not as deep and the spring wouldn't push it over the rim EVEN if it allowed the bolt to close, which it doesn't because it's not flush on the one side of the extractor, so it wont let the bolt close. Any ideas?

What is worn? How come the extractor aint extracting any more? Your extractor in the pic looks exactly like mine. Perhaps there is some other problem?

I also have a garden gun, the extractor is quite different to any other Lee metford/Enfield extractor, different size hook. The bolt head is a little different too, albeit the bolt is a factory recycled long Lee Unit. I can see scrubbed WD marking on the cocking piece under the blue.

I should find a replacement spring that clips over the rail, but the gun seems to function fine without it.

The extractor is worn at the tip, only a teeny bit, but it doesn't extract the cases from the chamber all the time and slides back over the rim. It's my favorite wee shotgun too.

Where one would find spares for these little shotguns is an unknown.

No doubt, somebody, somewhere has some extractors in a jar and can't figure out as to what Lee Enfield they are supposed to fit!!

A touch of wire weld would not be easy apply and reshape on such a tiny little component.

Have you tried a stiffer extractor spring? It will accept a standard Sht.LE spring. Extra pressure on that extractor might help it keep its grip on the cartridge rim.

Make another one?
