Stab in the dark.
Oz? MF is not often seen on "big stuff"; maybe they just made the cases to be filled elsewhere?
76mm for the gun on the Saladin Armoured Car, the turret thereof fitted on top of an unhappy M-113 APC, or the later version, the "Scorpion" turret also briefly fitted to a small number of M-113 APCs here in Oz.
The "Saladin" turreted conversion goes back to the late 1960's? and was quite top-heavy and definitely NOT "swimable". 4 Cav. in Brisbane had a couple. Nominally known as the Fire Support Vehicle, also known as "The Beast" (probably for its weight as much as its "firepower".
I got to work, briefly, on a later "Scorpion" version, once. A couple of odd things about them:
These turrets were originally fitted with L7 MGs, but, because Oz Armoured Corps was still in .30 Cal Browning mode at the time, the secondary armament was swapped. Not the most elegant arrangement ever.
The other problem was related to the business of getting into the turret. Right about where the crew members would put their size elevens on entry to the turret, some clever boffin had decided to put a "Trilux' illuminated sight gizmo. Thus there was a "drill" for rapid baling out in the event the glass vial of illuminating Tritium was broken and the radioactive gas released. I have a couple of photos of the early Saladin-turreted version, including the turret interior, but my contact with the later version was VERY brief; MAYBE a notebook somewhere here in the crypt, but nothing i can recall seeing since the late 1980's.
The Scorpion-turreted version of the FSV was destined for a short career as well.
That's my 5 cents-worth, as best as I can recall.
