Interesting picture. What's the ring on the right hand of the soldier on the left (as we see it) and is that an M1 carbine trailing behind him?
His wounded mate's carbine slung over his elbow.

You can see from this picture why it's better to wound than to kill. If the guy was dead; one less enemy. But wounded; you've taken 3 guys off the line.
True. A leg wound keeps him out of the fight for about three months, depending.
There is an M15 grenade launcher sight mounting plate mounted on the left hand M1.
