We've found some new software that lets us start, stop and annotate on films so we've picked a few period clips of the Vickers machine gun in service and analysed them. I hope they're of interest. Please do support us on Patreon to see more of this kind of material and access our online archive (Which includes all the small arms trial and development information from 1900 to 1938 - but will go further).
43rd Division Vickers Machine Guns near Hill 112 (#VickersMG Film Analysis!)
After a suggestion on YouTube, we've trialled a film analysis in a similar style to the photo analyses that we've done. This has been put together quite quickly but we hope you enjoy it. The software is now purchased using funds from Patrons so this will certainly be something we try and do more of in the future.
This is footage of Vickers machine guns of the 8th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, 43rd (Wessex) Division preparing and then firing in support of the Divisions actions on or near Hill 112 in Normandy, July 1944.

A Machine Gun School at the Front (#VickersMG Film Analysis)
Another film analysis and this time it's a Great War period video. A really interesting once that includes the Maxim and Lewis machine guns as well as the Vickers. There are also Colt 'Potato Diggers' in there as well. We even manage to identify an individual in the video which is a first but something we'll be aware of more in the future. Enjoy!
