1922,service rifle.Looks nice.What is the serial number? I have #9742 with 10-26 barrel and a J5 bolt.Does your rifle have the trap in the butt?Lee W.

They're all nice! But how does it shoot with what seems to be a low (short) front sight blade? Mine (s/n 10,000 something) has a standard M1903 blade and shoots penny to nickel sized groups at 25 yards with the Lyman sight cranked up 5 clicks. Just curious, B

I really like mine. My 25 yard group typically looks like one shot from a 30 cal., and that's free hand.

Thanks guys, as for the front sight I know it's a little short. The plan is to replace it. The butt plate does not have the trap in it. The serial # is 11344. If you go up to the original post there should be a link to more pictures at photobucket. I'm hoping to take it out by this weekend. This one has not been upgraded to a M2. TYhe real question I have is about the D&T holes for a scope.

Loy, you're by far a better shot than I. I use the back of a wooden patio chair or sometimes a saw horse as a rest. At best I get 4 of 5 holes in a penny grouping, but offhand is another challenge altogether. But at least I have eliminated my woodpecker problem! It's an expensive rifle to use for killing pests but I sure look good when doing it. And that's a neat pic of James Doolittle! B

I got to clairify that Bruce...that's free hand from the prone position. I have a Remington Nylon 66 that will shoot just as well. Some folks don't like them, but that "Nylon" rifle will drive nails!!

This is 50 rounds I shot at 25yds this ajternoon. I've decided I like the rifle.
