Is there any other non wartime mission more worthy of our tax dollars?
Other than perhaps caring for our living vets I cannot think of one.

Amen to that! If we could only designate our tax dollars to where we saw fit...

Good job, home at last.
Rest in peace…
Over the years I have picked-up some of the Pearl Harbor US Naval ship postmarks and cancellations. Each ship had their own post office and cancellation stamp.Attachment 118433Attachment 118434Attachment 118435Attachment 118436
Ironically having started and formed GRAVEWATCH over 30 years ago caring for all Parachute Regiment graves all over the world, I was asked to try and investigate the possibility of recovering all 250 bodies of the soldiers and nursing staff from a mass pit next to Alexandra hospital, Singapore, where they were all bayoneted by Japanese soldiers in February 1942 during WW2 as they lay in their beds recovering from thier wounds. The pit is now the football pitch!!
Yes it would be a massive undertaking, but with advances in DNA not impossible, as long as you could find family to cross compare for exact identification.
Just something I often think about but until there is agreement with the Singapore Government and the finance to and expertise to do it, I don't suppose it will ever happen.
Many have said they have been there over 79 years now leave them where they lay!!
Not so my policy..............Kranji Military Cemetery run by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission is just up the road. That would be a more fitting place of rest with full Military honours rather than in a mass grave IMHO, insuch a wealthy country we all fought to save!!
I agree
Sounds like something people should write to their MP's about Gil..
The government needs a little pressure applied and I can't think of a better cause.
I'm sure if Boris made a personal call to the Singaporean leader, it would be sorted, it just needs the political will to do it...
