I recently acquired an all matching1945 M44 that appears to have received the post-war Russian refurbishment (red shellac post-war stock, dark black metal finish). The metal is in excellent condition but the stock has an interesting feature. Along with a multitude of arsenal stamps, the toe of the stock was replaced with a large dovetailed section. I was wondering if that was a normal repair for the Russians? Thanks!
