I recently purchased a Traditions Pennsylvania Pellet Flintlock and I've been searching around for an answer to what I thought was a simple question;
Can you fire round balls with a sabot?
Now the manual states very explicitly that this will void your warranty but I'm curious as to the reasoning.
Please excuse me if this comes off as a silly question but I've never used a muzzle loader before.
I don't know why not if you have the right size sabot. Someone used to make them out of plastic but I don't recall seeing them lately. In a muzzle loading rifle, a good sabot made to expand would take the rifling instead of a patch and be easier to load. The only drawback is that most F/L rifles have deep grooves and a sabot would not be as good at filling them in as a cloth patch.

Apperently the warrently will be void if you use a sabot with a round ball. Sabot with one of these is OK though.Quote:
