Did original No4 T cheek rest have any markings on them ?
Most Lee Enfield parts will at least have the Broad Arrow stamped on them, was it the same for the cheek rest and if not how could it be ID ?
I tried looking at pics online and on here but the shapes seem to differ quite a bit (from repro to originals).

I've never seen any distinctive markings on the British cheekpieces. What Roger says about them being worked on for fitting is certainly true so any markings in the channel could be removed. The cheekpiece you have pictured looks like an Australian pattern for the SMLE HT sniper. If it was sourced in the USA from Gun Parts Corporation/Numrich, they have their reproductions made to the Australian pattern. If not, maybe it's original. They don't look right on a No.4T or L42. You can source excellent British pattern reproductions from DS Solutions in England if in need.
Brian beat me to it! Yes, it's a cheekpiece for the Lithgow No1 MkIII (H) T. It could be original or repro, as he says. I have an unissued original that is stamped 'SLAZ 45' in the butt channel.
A friend was getting out of the hobby and sold me his parts lot and this was in it.
I'm pretty sure he himself did not buy it from Numrich but that doesn't mean it didn't originate initially from there... no way of knowing.
To be very honest i purchased the lot with the intention of selling out everything but i just didn't want to mention it and appear like i was trying to make a sale... i'm not, i enjoy this forum, it is for instructional purpose and fun to me.
I just don't want to misrepresent it to the next owner.
Although i must admit now that there is a possibility of it being for the Lithgow (H) T it is suddenly more appealing and i'm tempted in keeping it... just in case haha

It looks to be walnut... would Lithgow have used walnut ?
Just as a side note. If your Cheek piece needs fitting to your Mk3 Butt it will be a near perfect fit to a P14.

You guys are right. I have spare Mk III butt stocks and a P14 and the fit is much better than on a No4. :super:
It also looks very much like the one listed on Numrich (which is walnut)
