Went to a SWAT academy at Camp SLO. Lots of poison oak there!!!
Camp Pendleton too. There's an area behind the Navy Hospital that's out of use because of it. We were assigned to use that very area...Quote:

I heard long ago that the military actually grew that stuff during WWII and dumped tons of it in the Pacific to allow the current to carry it to Japan so the Japanese would have to deal with it rather than US military. We heard at the time it was sown the same way and reason as Agent Orange, tested to be used in RVN. I was told this in '85 though. Perhaps there's a thread of truth to the part about it being tested for a combat deterrent.Quote:
